Gameplay
Info
Our battle system is currently in development. Mechanics will be adjusted and added as new content are released. Meanwhile, you may explore our demo slideshow for a visual preview of PetStory’s current gameplay direction.

Pets
- Pet skills from MapleStory N do not transfer to PetStory (e.g., Magnet Effect, Auto Move).
- Newly acquired pets must be identified before their stats are revealed.
- Each pet has unique base stats and growth distributions, such as ATK, DEF, CRIT, CRIT DMG, SPD, depending on its profession and job.
- Pets level up through idle farming or by consuming pet food.
- Each pet can equip skills and customize skill cast behavior.
- Pets can be assigned to passive farming, generating EXP, upgrade materials, and other resources.
- Pets may advance into specialized classes, altering their stat growth patterns.
- Social rewards are distributed based on the contributions of individual pet NFTs, not the wallet.
- Pets can be renamed using name tags.
Other NFTs
- Different NFT categories provide distinct stat boosts or functional benefits.
- Armor NFTs grant raw stat increases.
- Accessory NFTs may offer active or passive skills.
- NFTs can be equipped/unequipped by pets, but gating mechanisms exist to prevent equipment-borrowing abuse.
- Some NFTs feature durability, which may degrade or recharge depending on conditions.
- NFTs can be upgraded to improve their stats or skill levels.
- NFTs can be rerolled using materials to reset their item level or rarity.
- Future updates will introduce NFTs that act as puzzle pieces, equippable on a pet’s inventory grid similar to a Legion system.
- Certain NFTs will provide additional effects when placed adjacently on the grid.
- NFTs may be further enhanced to strengthen their boosts.
Wallets
- Wallets provide global bonuses to all pets and NFTs stored within them.
- Wallets can grow over time, unlocking achievements as they hit milestones such as cumulative EXP gained or total upgrade attempts.
- Achievements grant conditional benefits that activate when certain criteria are met (e.g., total levels of all owned pets exceed 1000).
- This design discourages multi-wallet abuse and helps maintain gameplay fairness.
Adventure
PvE content is divided into two core modes.
Idle Farming
- Pets can farm materials at set drop rates or gain EXP passively over time.
- Multiple maps exist, each with entry requirements.
- Higher-tier maps offer improved drop and EXP rates.
Boss Dungeons
- Bosses provide higher drop rates for reroll materials, supporting end-game optimization.
- Dungeon entry is regulated by keys, obtained from dailies, events, or idle-farming drops.
- Each dungeon features unique mechanics.
- Pets can challenge boss instances solo or in teams of up to four.
Social
- Early PvP systems such as arena battles and tournaments will be fully automated and auto-matched.
- Pets can be pre-registered; once the countdown ends, matches resolve automatically.
- Players can review past fights for strategy optimization.
- Wallets can join guilds, unlocking guild-exclusive content such as GvG, guild perks, and more.
- Seasonal wars and raid bosses will introduce new rules each cycle.
- Wallets will be organized into teams, requiring player cooperation and strategic planning to clear missions.
- Rewards are distributed to participants, with players voting on the final allocation.
Events
- Quests serve as progression milestones, unlocking new content.
- Events reward players with resources, bonuses, or rate boosts.
- Leaderboards may rank players based on specific criteria (e.g., highest ATK NFT, highest-HP pet, largest pet collection).
- Short, focused daily missions encourage consistent engagement without creating unnecessary time sinks.
