Economics

PetStory will maintain its own treasury, which holds all on-chain assets alongside the in-game resources that players can earn and spend throughout gameplay.

The final percentage allocation will be determined after identifying the optimal balance required to sustain PetStory's long-term economy.

1. What Are In-Game Resources And Why Are They Used?

In-Game Resources could be Pesos(PetStory's version of nesos) or other materials that can be used in PetStory only and are stored off-chain.

One might ask: Why not just use Neso or NXPC directly? The main reason is that on-chain transactions are both costly and slow, which would severely disrupt gameplay.

For example, imagine if MapleStory N’s enhancement system used Neso directly instead of converting it into power crystals as enhancement materials, each cube or Star Force action would take several seconds to process on-chain.

Similarly, if monsters dropped Neso directly, and every pickup had to be minted on-chain, it would be extremely inefficient.

Instead, Neso obtained in MapleStory N is treated as in-game resource until the player chooses to mint it manually, allowing for batch minting rather than minting each individual drop. This approach improves both efficiency and the overall player experience.

2. Why No Conversion from In-Game Resources Back to Neso/NXPC?

Discouraging short-term play and cash-out behavior

Allowing players to freely convert in-game resources back into on-chain tokens would encourage short-term engagement. Players could simply farm and cash out whenever possible, similar to bot behavior, instead of progressing naturally through the game, tackling bosses, or participating in time-limited events.

Promoting value in NFTs over liquid tokens

PetStory aims to emphasize NFT value growth rather than resources speculation. Players should be encouraged to spend in-game resources to strengthen their NFTs, which indirectly increases their extrinsic worth, rather than hoarding in-game currencies with the intention to cash out later.

3. Treasury Inflow

Neso / NXPC → In-Game Resources Conversion

Players can convert on-chain tokens into specific in-game resources for initial NFTs activation or convenience of time.

NFT Burning via Gameplay

Certain gameplay mechanics such as fusion, evolution, or sacrifice systems will require specific NFTs to be consumed, contributing to the treasury.

MSU Market Affiliate Program

Every purchase made in the MSU Marketplace through PetStory’s affiliate link generated in PetStory's Navigator will grant a portion of the trading fee to PetStory every month. Wallets that purchase NFTs through the Navigator will also receive certain cashback.

Builder Contributor Fund (TBD)

We have submitted our application to the MSU team but whether we can secure a funding is out of our control. Should it be secured, funds will be allocated mainly on speeding up development.

4. Treasury Outflow

Operations and Infrastructure

Funds will cover ongoing operational and infrastructure costs, including development and server maintenance.

Marketing and Limited-Time Events

Used for promotional activities, seasonal events, and airdrops.

In-Game Reward Distribution

Supports weekly or seasonal reward programs, such as in-game PvP, GvG, raid war or big scale wars.

Community Governance

A portion of treasury funds will be allocated based on player governance votes, ensuring community-driven decisions.

Potential Collaborations

The treasury may also act as collateral or partnership capital in collaborations with other projects or ecosystems.

5. Internal Transactions

Fusion and Fission (TBD)

This system, once implemented, will serve as a liquidity mechanism for PetStory, allowing it to help regulate NFT and NXPC/Neso supplies dynamically.
